Accelerated Vocational Training Program (AVTP)
The Accelerated Vocational Training Program (AVTP) is funded by the European Union through Y Care International, in collaboration with the Salvation Army of Australia, and administered by the YMCA of Lebanon. AVTP is a sequel program to the successful pilot VTP program which was first launched in 1978.
The project currently operates in North Lebanon (Akkar, Denniyeh, Tripoli), Bekaa Valley (North, West and East), South Lebanon (Tyre Nabatiye, Jezzine), Mount Lebanon, and remote satellite villages of the district of Beirut.
AVTP’s Objectives
The aim of AVTP is to provide valuable income-generating skills to unemployed young Lebanese men and women, young Palestinian men and women, disabled young men and women and young foreign women domestic workers. The program focuses primarily on capacity-building of local organizations - assisting in the implementation and management of their own training programs. In addition, we work on creating a network of experts that serve as links between local organizations.
Program implementers conduct extensive market labor surveys to identify the trends in the market so that they can custom design training programs for the young men and women and in order to increase their chances for employment.
