ICT and Connected Communities

 

This department focuses on providing poor and disadvantaged men and women with the technical skills and resources to find meaningful employment in their communities. A key focus of this department is Information Communication Technology (ICT) and on improving access to computers and the internet. The departemnt also provides training in business and management skills needed to create new businesses. By forming lasting relationships with communities and individual beneficiaries, the YMCA is able to make lasting improvements on the local level.

Description

This project has created eight Connected Communities and Business Initiative (CCBI) centers around Lebanon, providing Microsoft and Cisco certification courses and teaching computing basics to local residents. The centers provide free access and research facilities to youth groups, NGOs, and more. The eight centers are located in all regions of Lebanon: North, Bekaa, Mount Lebanon, South, and Nabatieh.

Description

“Reach Up” targets unemployed women and children and offers technological and business skills training in North, South, and Mount Lebanon. “Scale Up” seeks to empower small businesses by offering technical (IT) and business training courses in eight communities around Lebanon.
