Youth Department Overview

The Youth Department is the oldest within the YMCA of Lebanon. It has been providing summer programs and leadership training activities since its earliest days. The YMCA is dedicated to providing young people with the life skills they need to strengthen their minds and bodies. In an effort to maximize the potential of Lebanese youth, the YMCA designs it’s programs with the active participation of beneficiaries.

Fares Camp at Ras el Metn

The YMCA's Fares Camp is situated at 800m above sea level in the region of Ras el Metn. Only a 30 minute drive from Beirut, the location is noted for its attractive views and dense forest. The camp facility sits on 110,000 square meters of land, with the capactiy to host 150 persons at one time. The area is divided into multiple sectors:

  • Camping Sector - 15 large tents (10 persons each) and 15 smaller tents (3 persons each)
  • Dining Sector - a large hall and kitchen; there are also 7 toliets and showers in this building
  • Washrooms - 15 toilets and showers divided into men's and women's facilities
  • Welcome Sector - a small house with administrative offices, also used to welcome guests
  • Leisure Sector - big tent and large room for various activities
  • Sports grounds and nature trails
